Regarding the Weather
WMEA as the manager of the NAfME Northwest Division Conference and the NAfME All Northwest and WMEA All-State Honor Groups recognize that severe weather could make it necessary for attendees to cancel their plans to attend. Due to the complexity of scheduling or rescheduling as well as the business obligations already undertaken for an event of this magnitude weather cancellations are avoided. Therefore we plan to the run the conference and honor group programs as scheduled and advertised. There are no refunds in February.
WMEA cannot accept liability for local conditions in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming. Decisions to travel to Portland are solely made by individual attendees, companies and school districts who have made reservations to participate. We do accept full responsibility for the student participants and their safety from check in on Friday until the conclusion of the event on Sunday afternoon. Like everyone in the northwest WMEA is monitoring this situation hourly. Updates will be posted on http://www.wmea.org and http://www.nafmenw.org. Please be safe. We hope to see you in Portland.
Portland has an excellent light rail system called the Max Line with stations conveniently located near our hotels and with a station at the Oregon Convention Center. Options like Amtrak and flights are still available for low costs as well. (You'll save money on parking!)
