The Washington Music Educators Association is supported by its member foundation. These members range from college students to college professors and even include businesses and schools. There are four types of membership offered by WMEA:

1. Active members join through NAfME: the National Association for Music Education
2. Retired Members have mostly the same benefits as active members - and it costs much less!
3. Associate members are businesses, associations and schools who wish to support and partner with WMEA.  Associate members join directly through WMEA.
4. Collegiate membership is available for future music educators

WMEA members are also eligible to apply for a variety of grants.
