Digital Publications
Digital publications consist of Voice of Washington Music Educators and the WMEA State Conference program.
- PDF is the preferred format; jpg, png or tiff images can also be accepted
- PDF must include full resolution images and fonts
- Recommended image resolution (both for ads submitted as images or for images included in the PDF): 225 pixels per inch (ppi)
- Avoid small text in image files
Ad sizes
- Full page: PDF – 7.5″ x 10″; Images: 1688 x 2250 px
- Full page bleed (inside covers only): PDF – 8.5″ x 11″; Images: 1913 x 2475 px
- Half page horizontal: PDF – 7.5″ x 5″; Images: 1688 x 1125 px
- Half page vertical: PDF – 10″ x 3.5″; Images: 2250 x 788 px
- Quarter page: PDF – 5.25″ x 3.5″; Images: 1182 x 788 px
For all digital publication ads submitted as PDF, please set your margins to “0”.
Print Publications
Print publications consist of the WMEA All-State program, the WMEA/WIAA State Solo and Ensemble Contest program, and the Junior All-State program.
- Accepted formats: PDF, jpg, png, tiff
- PDF must include full resolution images and fonts
- Recommended image resolution: 300 pixels per inch (ppi)
Ad sizes
- Full page: PDF – 7.5″ x 10″; Images: 2250 x 3000 px
- Full page bleed (inside covers only): PDF – 8.5″ x 11″; Images: 2550 x 3300 px
- Half page horizontal: PDF – 7.5″ x 5″; Images: 2250 x 1500 px
- Half page vertical: 10″ x 3.5″; Images: 3000 x 1050 px
Website
Web ads will appear in the sidebar on all pages belonging to the specified main menu. There are three types of ads:
- Image
- Text + Image
- Text Only
Image Ads
Image Ads are the simplest to integrate, ensuring that the layout and formatting are exactly as you desire. Image ad dimensions are 320px x 640px, and will navigate to a single URL.
Any ad that exceeds either maximum width or height will be resized proportionately to fit the ad space.
Text + Image Ads
If you want to have a more flexible ad layout, text + image ads allow you to have multiple links within the text body of your ad. This can be useful if your ad points to different pages or sections on your website, or you would like to include an email address in the text. Multiple paragraphs and varied text alignment are allowed. There are three possible layouts; single image, left-aligned image, or right-aligned image.
Full Width Image
With a full width image text + image ad, your image will span the entire width of the ad space in the sidebar, and the text will flow below the image.
- Maximum image width: 320px.
- Maximum image height: 320px (half of the ad height).
- Maximum text length is dependent on image height; approximately 60 words for maximum height images, 100 words for shorter images.
Right or Left Aligned Image
With a right or left aligned text + image ad, your image will span up to half the width of the ad space in the sidebar, and the text will flow around and below the image.
- Maximum image width: 150px.
- Maximum image height: 640px (full ad height).
- Maximum copy length is dependent on image width & height; approximately 65 words for full height images, 120 words for shorter images.
Text Only Ads
Text only ads are also available, with the same text formatting guidelines as text + image ads. Text only ads have an approximate maximum copy length of 140 words.
Limitations for All Text Ads
- Text length may be adjusted to fit the allotted space; if your text causes the ad size to exceed the maximum height of 640px, we will work with you to edit your copy for proper fit.
- All text will be the default WMEA website size and font.
- Style formatting will be limited to normal, bold, italic, and bold-italic.
- A maximum of four hyperlinks within the ad (includes any link from an image within the ad).
Other Website Ad Guidelines
- Accepted image formats: jpg, png, tiff.
- All ads will contain an Advertisement label (added by WMEA).
- Ad copy and links are subject to WMEA review and approval.
