As an OSPI approved clock hour provider, WMEA is pleased to offer clock hours for qualifying events that have been preapproved. To express interest in creating and offering a clock hour event, preapproval starts with an email to clockhours@wmea.org.
Who Can Offer Clock Hours Through WMEA
WMEA can facilitate clock hours for members who create learning activities benefitting teachers. A membership relationship is required and includes:
A WMEA/NAfME member who creates a learning opportunity that benefits a minimum of five music educators. That can be a mix of member and nonmember participants. WMEA does not facilitate clock hours for individual experiences.
Partner Member organizations. No minimum participation is required for Partner Member sponsored learning events.
WMEA Regions. Please note that OSPI does not allow clock hours to be granted for the regular conducting of business.
OSPI requires that all clock hour activity must be preapproved—no exceptions. Preapproval starts with an email to clockhours@wmea.org. Starting the preapproval process at least three weeks prior to the start of an event is appreciated.
Clock hours are free as a benefit of WMEA/NAfME membership. Nonmembers are also welcome to claim clock hours at the rate of $2 per hour earned. When WMEA facilitates clock hours at an event, registration materials and instructions will be made available onsite.
Clock Hours Through NAfME Academy
WMEA/NAfME members who would like to earn Washington clock hours by participating in the NAfME Academy program must contact clockhours@wmea.org before starting. Clock hours will not be granted for any work performed prior to, or without having sought preapproval to start. All work must result in a certificate of completion provided by NAfME. We are unable to support NAfME Academy clock hours for nonmembers at this time.
