Dale grew up on a farm in southern Idaho, and completed degrees at BYU and the UW. He taught in Seattle, Federal Way and Tacoma, and now teaches at Auburn High School. For the past 37 years Dale has also worked with the Tacoma Youth Symphony Association directing two orchestras, overseeing chamber music, teaching music theory and helping direct the Evergreen Music Festival. He initiated TYSA’s String Orchestra Festival at The Evergreen State College, attended annually by over 1200 students. From 1993-2008, Dale also directed the Tacoma Community College Chamber Orchestra. Borrowing a line from Victor Borge, Dale would like to thank his wonderful parents for making this possible and his beautiful wife, Darlene, and their eight children for making it necessary. Conducting great music in prestigious halls and receiving awards are memorable, but Dale’s greatest thrills have come from working with numerous outstanding young people and in rubbing shoulders with dedicated and inspiring teachers. They have made him look forward to coming to work for over 40 years.
