Dan began his music teaching career with the Olympia School District in 1978 at Reeves Middle School and Olympia High School. He has taught music at Capital High School since 1983, currently teaching three concert bands and a traditional jazz band, and also teaches one elementary school band. Since 1995 Dan has been the Olympia School District Music Coordinator. Dan has served as the Chinook region’s president, and in 2006 was named the region’s Outstanding Music Educator. In 2007, he was honored as an Outstanding Contributor to the Arts by the Olympia area Masterworks Choral Ensemble. Dan has also served WMEA as group manager for the All-State Concert Band and the All-State Wind Ensemble, and in 2011 conducted the WMEA Junior All-State Baker Band. He is actively involved in the Olympia Symphony as a performer, principal trumpet, and member of the board of directors. Dan thanks his family and friends for their constant, continued support.
