Mel served the Eastern Washington MEA as its president for two terms, and was WMEA 2nd vice president from 1968 to 1970. He stayed busy as a choral, band and vocal solo and ensemble adjudicator. The girls’ vocal ensembles he directed were selected to perform at WMEA and MENC Northwest Division conferences.
