Hall of Fame: Robin Blumenthal Inducted:2018Robin graduated from Wichita State University, and earned a full ride scholarship as an Indiana University graduate assistant, studying under George Gaber. She earned scholarships, won competitions and performed solos with many orchestras and bands. She freelanced with Sandi Patty, the Gaithers, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, and traveled fifteen years with Roger Williams. In Longview, she founded the Mark Morris High School Percussion Ensemble, which performed at two WMEA conferences. In 1999, after moving to Puyallup with husband Sam and percussionist daughters Alicia and Heather, she taught both elementary and secondary music. Her percussion ensemble at Emerald Ridge HS was selected to perform at both a WMEA conference and an NAfME Northwest Division conference. Numerous of Robin’s students have been selected for honor groups and to perform at state solo and ensemble contests. Robin continues to be active in NAfME and WMEA, and is the Valley Region president. She lives in Puyallup with her husband, Sam, and is in her 12th year at Kalles Junior High School.
