D. Scott Barnes, NAfME Northwest Division President, is currently the Manager of Visual and Performing Arts for the Edmonds School District. The majority of his educational career has been in Oregon and Washington classrooms as a high school band director. Additionally, Scott served ten years on the WMEA Executive Board, including a term as President, 2014-16. He holds degrees from Western Washington University (Bachelor of Music), the University of Oregon (Master of Music) in horn performance and music education and received his administrative credentials from Washington State University. Under his direction, the Edmonds SD has been recognized by the NAMM Foundation as one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” each of the last 13 years. Scott plays horn in the Cascade Symphony and Brass Reflections Quintet and has been the Associate Conductor of the Shoreline Community College Concert Band. He continues to be an active performer, clinician and strong advocate for music education. Scott and his wife Amy live in Edmonds and have two daughters, Kelsey and Lauren.
