Wayne was WMEA president from 1950 to 1952, and also was elected to serve as MENC Northwest Division president. At Central Washington University from 1938 to 1974, he was music department chair and conductor of the Central Singers. Wayne served as a guest conductor for more than 175 music festivals and influenced hundreds of music teachers.
