Hall of Fame Nomination Form

The Washington Music Educators Hall of Fame was established by the WMEA Executive Board to give recognition for exceptional support, inspiration and outstanding contributions to the growth and development of music education, both public and private, in the state of Washington. A maximum of 10 members and up to two honorary members will be selected each biennium for the Hall of Fame and inducted at our state biennial conference.

Please take some time to think about outstanding music educators you have known and supporters from the music industry who deserve this special recognition. To be selected by one’s own peers is one of the highest honors a person can receive. Nominate someone for the Hall of Fame by completing the form below and clicking the submit button below. Nominations must be submitted by October 15 prior to the next WMEA State Conference to be considered for that Hall of Fame Class.

Criteria

Only current members of WMEA are eligible to nominate candidates for, or to be nominated for the WMEA Hall of Fame. Current membership of retirees is not required for nomination. All candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Have served as an active music educator or administrator of music education in a Washington public or private school or institution of higher learning or had a leadership role with a partner member institution for a period of not less than 10 years.
  • Have demonstrated consistent excellence in the teaching of music or in music administration or provided outstanding service to the state’s music education community.
  • Have brought about substantive improvements in the educational process.
  • Have contributed significantly to the betterment of the music education profession through exemplary service or acts above and beyond his/her assigned duties.

Nominee Information

The nominee must be an active, retired or partner member of WMEA and have satisfied three or more of the criteria above.

Nomination does not ensure acceptance into the WMEA Hall of Fame. The WMEA Awards Committee will make the final determination as to which nominees will become members of the Hall of Fame and will notify those accepted in a timely manner.

Nominee’s information must be complete and accurate at time of submission.
