Hall of Fame: Jo Caldwell Inducted: 2016Jo served as WMEA Publications Manager for 20 years, producing the Voice of Washington Music Educators, state and Northwest conference programs, and All-State and All-Northwest concert programs. A tireless worker for music education, she served as advocacy chair, spearheaded YME and built support for the Music Matters program. A trumpet player in the 1958 All-State Band, Jo was fortunate to have Bill Cole, Delwen Jones and Joe Wheeler as music teachers. She met her husband Bruce in the Husky Marching Band, and was elected the band’s Outstanding Senior in 1961. A founding member of the Husky Marching Band Alumni Association, she edited its newsletter for several years. She taught elementary, high school and staff development, and was named Edmonds School District’s 1990 Educator of the Year. While advising the Meadowdale High School yearbook, she learned the skills that enabled her later to become Voice editor. She continues working in music advocacy and publications in retirement.
