Karen was a vocal music teacher at Sumner Junior High School from 1977 to 2005, and at Bonney Lake High School from 2005 to 2007. She also served as music coordinator and music advocate for the Sumner School District. Karen was honored as the Washington State Teacher of the Year for 1997.
