Laurie Cappello, Director of Choirs at Cascade High School, has taught in the Everett School District for over 20 years. Her Evergreen Middle School jazz choir performed at WMEA and Northwest/Western Division ACDA conferences. Laurie’s Cascade concert and jazz groups received superior scores in New York, China, Disneyland and Disney World. Her select women’s ensemble, Viváce, performed at WMEA conferences and at an All-Northwest ACDA Conference. She has presented sessions at state, divisional and national ACDA conferences, and is a choral/jazz festival clinician/adjudicator.
She has served as the WMEA All-State Treble Choir Manager, was a National ACDA Treble Choir Manager and has conducted honor choirs in Washington and Idaho. She served as the Pacific Northwest ACDA middle school/junior high Repertoire and Standards Chair and guest conducted an Alaska All-State Women’s Choir. In 2010, Laurie was named the Mount Pilchuck MEA region’s Outstanding Music Educator, and is currently the region president.
