Hall of Fame: Stanley Chapple Inducted: 2000Dr. Chapple had a worldwide reputation as a top-line educator and conductor. With Kussevitsky, he co-founded the Berkshire (Tanglewood) Music Festival and educated students there from 1940 to 1947. He was Director of the University of Washington School of Music from 1948 to 1971, bringing many distinguished faculty to the school. He worked tirelessly to build an opera program at the UW, resulting in the University Opera that trained many students who went on to careers in opera. In addition, in 1975 he founded the Musicians’ Emeritus Symphony Orchestra.
