Fourth Street Theatre
14 S Fourth Street
Yakima, Washington
This year WMEA has added a follow-up event to the Junior Backstage luncheon: the Parent Power Workshop. The goal is to give parents the tools with which they can talk to teachers, counselors, administrators, school board members and other decision makers, from the local through state levels.
The special keynote speaker for 2014 is:
Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser
"Dr. Tim" is a well-known name in the music-education world as a teacher, clinician, author, composer, consultant, adjudicator and, above all, a trusted friend to anyone interested in working with young people in developing a desire for excellence.
The Parent Power Workshop topics are:
How to keep students in music throughout high school
How to prepare students for music in college and becoming a music major
How to talk to decision-makers
How to form a music coalition
