Terry enjoyed 30 years of superior ratings for his groups. He is the founding director of the Center for Excellence in Music Education at Western Washington University. He wrote commissioned works which were premiered at the MENC NW Division (1971), the WIBA (1983) and the WMEA (1984) conferences.
